Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted at The Broke & The Bookish. Each week they host a different top ten topic.

This weeks topic is:

Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag

Well technically these won't be in my beach bag, I don't have one. I live in London so beaches aren't exactly my thing and the closest one to me isn't one you want to go relax on with a good book. But, these will be the books I am most looking forward to getting to in the Summer when I have a bit more time.

Open Road Summer is one I own and definitely know that I want to get to this summer. It's actually pretty high on my TBR list because I keep hearing so many amazing things about it. I think this could be one of those books that pulls me from my reading slump so I am very excited to get to it.
The Truth About Alice has a premise that really intrigues me and I feel like it will be a book I can easily get through. I'm hoping it's a read in one sitting type of book. I haven't actually seen many reviews for it which is probably for the best.
Pivot Point is on here because I am determined to read all of Kasie West books. I recently read The Distance Between Us and I absolutely loved it. She's a talented writer and she writes such brilliant characters.
Love Letters to the Dead is a hard one because I have seen a lot of mixed reviews. I bought a hardback copy because I was so excited for it and didn't want to have to wait. I'm really hoping that I enjoy this one and I'm not left disappointed.
Ugly Love is on here because I just adore Colleen Hoover's writing. I am not the biggest NA fan but she writes the kind of books that I can devour in one sitting. She writes brilliant love interest that aren't the kind of arseholes you see in most NA. This one seems really intriguing and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

I have been seeing a lot of brilliant reviews for Jellicoe Road at the minute and I've had it since Christmas, so I kind of feel like it's time I finally get to this book. I hope I love it as much as everyone else seems too.
Since You've Been Gone looks like a really brilliant read and I've enjoyed the authors other books. I haven't seen many reviews for this one but I have high hopes and don't think I'm going to be left disappointed.
The whole blurb for #scandal intrigues the hell out me, I want this to be a book that I can't put down. I am hoping that this will be a read in one sitting kind of book too.
On The Fence is one I am not even worried about, I have every confidence in West that I am going to be reading something amazing. I have an eARC of this and plan to get to it very soon.
Delirium is a series I have been meaning to start for years now, I own all three now so I really have no excuse. I hope to binge read this series very soon and hope the end isn't as disappointing as everyone says. I mean, it can't be Allegiant style bad, can it?

So what books are you most looking forward to this Summer? And which books would you recommend as the perfect beach read?

  1. 'Well technically these won't be in my beach bag, I don't have one. I live in London so beaches aren't exactly my thing and the closest one to me isn't one you want to go relax on with a good book. ' Hahah you got to be talking about Brighton right?

Great list hun. Open Road Summer is one I don't think I've heard of yet. I'm sure I got The Truth About Alice from Netgalley to read so I'll have to get that done too.

I started Pivot Point early this year but couldn't get in to it, I think I was just really busy or something so it's one I want to finish. Love Letters to the Dead is on my TBR too and has been there for a while, really need to read it. Didn't know about Ugly Love before but its been put on the TBR, Colleen Hoover is a bit good :P

Since You've Been Gone and On The Fence are on my TBR list, #scandal is a recent addition to the list having only heard about it a few weeks ago. I love Sarah Ocklers writing, I've only read The Book of Broken Hearts but my god was it a good book.

And I'll be honest, I cant believe you haven't Delirium. The series is good, the first book is the best in the series in my opinion but the others are good too.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of them all :)

    1. Actually, I was thinking of Southend beach. It's just nasty and the water is so filthy it's unreal. We used to always go there as kids because of all the rides they have there.

I am excited for Ugly Love, I've enjoyed every book by her that I have read so far so I have high hopes.

I have just started #scandal and I am enjoying it, but I'm not blown away. I think it might be a 3/5 for me so far.

I know, I need to hurry up and start that. Although, my sister did tell me that, even though she liked it, I would HATE the third book in the series. I'm nervous for that.

  3. Ooooh lots of good picks, I also am excited to read many of these (#scandal, On the Fence, Pivot Point, The Truth About Alice). I can relate on the beach thing, I live in New England and not near a coast line, so you know you can go hang by the lake but not so much a real beach/ocean. Hope you get to all your summer reads :)

  5. It’s winter here in Australia now but I’m planning on reading many of the same books as you curled up in bed. I absolutely love On The Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchette I read it for the first time this year and I think Jonah Griggs from is the love of my life.

I hope you enjoy all of these! Have fun in your summer!

    1. I much prefer reading in bed anyway, would pick that over a beach any day. I hope I end up loving that book, so excited to start it.

  6. I hope that I will find time this summer to read sequels to series I love. As for perfect beach read - I would say go with something that you will enjoy - you are at vacation after all.
I hope you will manage to escape London and hit the beach. ;)

    1. Me too, but I highly doubt it ;) I do get to go Dublin, Ireland but I won't be seeing any beaches!

  7. Since You've Been Gone looks like a great summer read. I'm in the middle of reading Love Letters to the Dead, and I'd recommend it, mainly due to the format and how the heroine relates to the celebrities she writes.

  8. Pivot Point, oh boy, you're gonna love Trevor, I swear down, b prepared to fall in love, again! On The Fence, I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed that book, and yes, those e's are vital to confessing how much I need it. Love Letter's to the Dead, I've heard mixed things, but it seems to be a good book overall, while The Truth About Alice, Open Road Summer and Since You've Been Gone have been getting some recent love, so they should good choices too! If you like Delirium, I'll try and find it form the library, but only if, you have good taste ;)

    1. I will definitely, 100% prepare myself! I know the power of West and how easily she can make me love a guy.

I have good taste, sometimes ;) A lot of the time I feel like I am hating on all these books/movies everybody loved and then there's me, being miserable.

  9. I am currently reading #Scandal and really enjoying it :) I pretty much want to read most of the books on your list! Great picks, enjoy!

  12. Since You've Been Gone was really good, I hope you enjoy it. I'm about to start The Truth About Alice so I hope I like it! On the Fence was on my list too. I loved The Distance Between Us and Pivot Point so I have no doubt I'll love On the Fence. Delirium…one of my favorite dystopians. And my one positive comment about Allegiant is that it made me love Requiem. So it's not Allegiant bad, that's for sure. Hope you enjoy all of these books! ~Pam

  13. "She writes brilliant love interest that aren't the kind of arseholes you see in most NA." You're on a roll at the minute! And yes I agree, Hoover writes NA that actually has a point. I want more of her stuff this summer too, and Delirium - I have to binge this, they are all ready and waiting!

  15. Oh yea, we definitely have some of the same. Ugly Love and On the Fence are musts!
You will love Pivot Point. It is just so fantastic. A quick read too. I mean, West can do no wrong.
I really need to get to Since You've Been Gone this summer, too.
    Great list! Happy reading!

  17. Pivot Point looks so interesting! And I agree with you about Love Letters to the Dead- I think my expectations may be a bit to high and the reviews I've read have been so polarized. I hope you like the Delirium series. I wanted to so so so badly because I thought the concept was so intriguing, but I honestly could get past 75% in the first book. Great list, and good luck with your TBR list this summer!

  19. I won't be seeing any beaches, so yeah, it's an imaginative beach bag for me, too :) But, great list of summery books. I've actually read only Open Road Summer & it's definitely perfect for the summer :) Happy reading!

  20. I've heard such great things about Love Letters to the Dead! It seems like such an interesting concept, so I'm hoping to buy a copy to read it soon enough. Since You've Been Gone sounds really great as well. I haven't read anything by Morgan Matson before though I haven't really heard a bad thing yet. Great picks!

  21. I've seen On the Fence on several lists today - had to add it to my Goodreads list....

  22. I feel your pain. We don't get the weather over here in Ireland for beaches either. I live quite near one and I honestly wouldn't visit it to read! I adore your list, all of them are on my TBR list actually. I have a copy of Delirium, and I'm hoping it turns out OK. Hoping it's good might be taking it a bit too far? I've seen some pretty bad things about it, so my expectations are extremely low.

  23. I added The Truth About Alice to my TBR list on Goodreads earlier today. It sounds like a fascinating read. I wish I could go to the beach this summer--just to get some reading time in. Okay, and walk on the beach...

  24. I enjoyed Pivot Point but still haven't read any other Kasie West yet! I haven't read Open Road Summer but am a little interested in it.

  25. What a FANTASTIC list!! Pivot Point was so awesome. Since You've Been Gone and Open Road Summer were so much fun! The Truth About Alice was very thought-provoking and a very strong read. Seems like we have very similar reading taste. :) Hope you enjoy your non-beach summer reads! :)

  26. Great choices. You have quite a few books on there that I have heard good things about. I absolutely loved the Delirium Series but I was not a fan of the ending. The ending to Delirium is definitely better than Allegiant so I'd wouldn't worry that much :)

  27. I've been meaning to read Love Letters to the Dead, Pivot Point, the Truth About Alice, Since You've Been Gone and Delirium.
I've been seeing Delirium in the bookstore everytime I drop by but the disappointing ending as everyone had said is stopping me from actually buying it >__<

  32. Several of these books would be in my beach bag as well. :) Open Road Summer, Since You're Been Gone, and On the Fence look like the perfect summer reads. I also can't wait to read all of those other books on the top row. I'll be reading The Truth About Alice this weekend and I'm really excited for it!

  33. So many of these books I want to read too! I have only read 2 of the books on your list.
The Truth About Alice and Delirium. I enjoyed both.
