My Weekly Recap: 28/02/2015

I've been really happy with this week as I feel like I've actually managed to accomplish quite a lot, for once. I've not only been working a lot, I've also managed to get 4 posts up since last weeks recap, 5 including this one. Whilst also trying to go visit as many bloggers as possible. But I'm still working on that aspect of it, so if you're a fellow blogger feel free to leave a link below so I can come check it out!

Not only do I feel like I am getting back on top of the blog, but I'm also making progress in other aspects. My notice has been handed in at my current job, my last official day being the 26th March. I start my new job on the 30th March, but get 12 days off inbetween to relax, prepare and do whatever the hell I want. I've also bought myself a new hoover, a new toaster, a wonderful computer chair and a shredder. At 23, I'm suddenly starting to feel like a grown up when my money goes on hoovers instead of books!

I've realised my book buying had got a bit out of control recently. Since Christmas, I think I have acquired over 150 new books. But I've literally only read 14 so far this year. I already have three bookshelves fully packed, and I mean PACKED. I have a row of books at the front of each shelf, then 3 columns of books are stacked behind those. So I'm trying to be better and order less books. I'm not on a ban exactly, I'm just trying to think carefully about whether I really need a book or not before I buy it. I did get to reorganise my shelves though and I LOVE them.

This is just some of what I have been getting up to over on Instagram. I'll be showing off my reorganised shelves on there as well. Plus I've got a giveaway coming up soon!

I'm linking up with Tynga's Stacking the Shelves and the Caffeinated Book Reviewers The Sunday Post.

I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios
I'll Meet You ThereIf seventeen-year-old Skylar Evans were a typical Creek View girl, her future would involve a double-wide trailer, a baby on her hip, and the graveyard shift at Taco Bell. But after graduation, the only thing standing between straightedge Skylar and art school are three minimum-wage months of summer. Skylar can taste the freedom—that is, until her mother loses her job and everything starts coming apart. Torn between her dreams and the people she loves, Skylar realizes everything she’s ever worked for is on the line.Nineteen-year-old Josh Mitchell had a different ticket out of Creek View: the Marines. But after his leg is blown off in Afghanistan, he returns home, a shell of the cocksure boy he used to be. What brings Skylar and Josh together is working at the Paradise—a quirky motel off California’s dusty Highway 99. Despite their differences, their shared isolation turns into an unexpected friendship and soon, something deeper.
This Girl (Slammed, #3)This Girl by Colleen Hoover
Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

  1. It's good to hear that you feel like you're getting back to normal with the blogging, and I hope you enjoy your time off between jobs. I usually buy way too many books, but the past few weeks I've been very good. Last week I bought nothing, this week only a few. I have a feeling I'll be back to old ways soon, though. I really want to read I'll Meet You There, I hope you enjoy it. I need to read more Colleen Hoover. Enjoy your books! Happy reading!

    1. Don't be. That's rather terrible of me and I need to be stopped. It's probably in the 200+ mark now. Luckily I have gotten rid of some as well.

  4. 150 books since Christmas...naughty naughty *waggles finger*!!! I had a big splurge this month on books but luckily I'm reading more than I'm buying so the numbers on the book pile are reducing. For the first time in about 10 years! Good luck with your new job!

    1. I know, I am terrible. I think it's on the 200+ mark now but I can't seem to stop. Most I received for free though so I am not sure that they should count.

  5. Aw go you, Charnell! Look at all those adulting things you got done this week! Good luck with that new job! And I'm glad you're getting on top of that blogging. You can be my inspiration. I'm using the turn into March to get my mojo back but eh, who knows hehe! I hope you enjoy I'll Meet You There! There's been so much hype with that one

    1. Haha, I know, starting to feel like an actual grown up! ;) Well it's April now and my mojo still isn't back. I've only just started replying to comments. OOPS! Not good. I can be no ones inspiration ever.

  6. I'm trying to be better about buying books too. I'm thinking about only buying books only when I want to read them right then (this is for Kindle buying). Hopefully that will help. It's not like the books are going away and they're only a click away so why do I feel like I have to buy them when I'm not planning on reading them right away?

I'll Meet You There…I really enjoyed it, hope you do too! I wasn't as in love with it as most (and for a very specific reason) and I'm curious to see what you think about it. Have fun reading! ~Pam

I hope I love it, really need to hurry up and get to it.

  7. I am still struggling with being responsible adult and spend money on other things than just book (and I am 26). All the best with new job, btw :)
Also, I'll Meet You There is my favorite read of 2015 so I hope you will love it too!

  8. Congrats Charnell, I'm glad to hear things have been going so well! We've kinda switched places. You've done more posts than usual and I've done a LOT less. O_O I hope the transition into your new job goes smoothly. I am also trying to get a lot less books; since I've got a new job I had to buy stuff I realised I didn't have like blazers, trousers, a watch, shoes... and yet, when I went into my old workplace I still bought two books (All The Bright Places and The Sin Eater's Daughter) and was tempted to get a third (Half The World)!

OMG gorgeous books, especially Golden Son. I'm looking forward to reading it. I've heard mixed opinions about it. =D

It seems like you have been doing well in that department, and thank you for stopping by my blog this week <3 I hope you really enjoy those 12 days off and take your time to relax. We all know you have earned it! And I think it is good you have cut down on the amount of books you have bought. I approve of it, and hope the reading also speeds up!

  18. That's good you have 12 days to relax and have fun before starting a new work adventure! 😊 And that's awesome you go back to the swing of blogging things again! I need to do that too! I think we will always have a problem with our book buying and like you, I'm trying to keep it in control. I need to read what I have first before buying more books!
