Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J Maas
Everyone Celaena Sardothien loves has been taken from her. But she's at last returned to the empire- for vengeance, to rescue her once-glorious kingdom, and to confront the shadows of her past...She will fight for her cousin, a warrior prepared to die just to see her again. She will fight for her friend, a young man trapped in an unspeakable prison. And she will fight for her people, enslaved by a brutal king and awaiting their lost queen's triumphant return.
If you didn't realise this would be number one of my list then you are clearly new to the blog. Maas is the master as far as I am concerned and I will happily devour any little bookish morsel she will give me. I am desperate but scared for Queen of Shadows. Especially since when I met the author she said they aren't sending out any advanced copies. THAT MEANS BIG THINGS ARE COMING. DEATH!!!! Lots and lots of death that will probably make me cry. CHOOSE CHAOL WOMAN! Gah.... this series. I need this book. You can check out my gushing reviews of her books here: Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Assassin's Blade & A Court of Thorns and Roses,

The Boy Most Likely by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Tim Mason was The Boy Most Likely To:-find the liquor cabinet blindfolded-need a liver transplant- drive his car into a house
Alice Garrett was The Girl Most Likely To:-well, not date her little brother's baggage-burdened best friend, for starters.
For Tim, it wouldn't be smart to fall for Alice. For Alice, nothing could be scarier than falling for Tim. But Tim has never been known for making the smart choice, and Alice is starting to wonder if the "smart" choice is always the right one. When these two crash into each other, they crash hard/Then the unexpected consequences of Tim's wild days come back to shock him. He finds himself in a situation that isn't all it appear to be, that he never could have predicted... but maybe should have,And Alice is caught in the middle.
My Life Next Door is one of my favourite books of all time, it's just so fucking adorable. Seriously, there is not better word for it. Plus it hit on topics that were hard hitting to me at the time and it made me cry. I have been absolutely desperate for this sequel ever since. Give it to me!!!

November 9 by Colleen Hoover
Fallon meets Ben, an aspiring novelist, the day before her scheduled cross-country move. Their untimely attraction leads them to spend Fallon's last day in L.A. together, and her eventful life becomes the creative inspiration that Ben has always sought for his novel. Over time, and amidst the various relationships and tribulations that separate their lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Until one day Fallon becomes unsure if Ben has been telling her the truth or fabricating a perfect reality for the sake of the ultimate plot twist.

Their Fractured Light by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
A year ago, Flynn Cormac and Jubilee Chase made the now infamous Avon Broadcast, calling on the galaxy to witness for their planet, and protect then from destruction. Some say Flynn's a madman, others whisper about conspiracies. Nobody knows the truth. A year before that, Tarver Merendsen and Lilac LaRoux were rescued from a terrible shipwreck- now, they live a public life in front of the cameras, and a secret life away from the world's gaze. Now, in the center of the universe on the planet of Corinth, all four are about to collide with two new players, who will bring the fight against LaRoux Industries to a head. Gideon Marchant is an eighteen-year-old computer hacker- a whiz kid and an urban warrior. He'll climb, abseil and worm his way past the best security measures to pull off onsite hacks that others don't dare touch.Sofia Quinn has a killer smile, and by the time you're done noticing it, she's got you offering up your wallet, your car, and anything else she desires. She holds LaRoux industries responsible for the mysterious death of her father and is out for revenge at any cost. When a LaRoux industry security breach interrupts Gideon and Sofia's separate attempts to infiltrate their headquarters, they're forced to work together to escape. Each of them has their own reason for wanting to take down LRI, and neither trusts the other. But working together might be the best chance they have to expose the secrets LRI is so desperate to hide.
This one might have the prettiest cover of the series. I don't know for sure though. I am incredibly fond of the cover for These Broken Stars. But, my word, it is absolutely stunning. I can't wait to see how this series ends!

Like It Never Happened by Emily Adrian
When Rebecca Rivers lands the lead in her school's production of The Crucible, she gets to change roles in real life, too. She casts off her old reputation, grows close with her four rowdy cast-mates, and kisses the extremely handsome Charlie Lamb onstage. Even Mr. McFadden, the play's critical director, can find no fault with Rebecca,Though "The Essential Five" vow never to date each other, Rebecca can't help her feelings for Charlie, leaving her both conflicted and lovestruck. But the on and off-stage drama of the cast is eclipsed by a life-altering accusation that threatens to destroy everything... even if some of it is just make believe.
This just seems like a very cute, summer read with some drama thrown in.

Not After Everything by Michelle Levy
Tyler has a football scholarship to Stanford, a hot girlfriend, and a reliable army of friends to party with. Then his mom kills herself. And Tyler lets it all go. Now he needs to dodge what his dad is offering (verbal tirades and abuse) and earn what his dad isn't (money). Tyler finds a job that crashes him into Jordyn, his former childhood friend turned angry-loner goth-girl. She brings Tyler an unexpected reprieve from the never-ending pity party his life has become. How could he not fall for her? But with his dad more brutally unpredictable than ever, Tyler knows he can't risk bringing Jordyn too deeply into the chaos. So when violence rocks his world again, will it be Jordyn who shows him the way to a hopeful future? Or after everything, will Tyler have to find it in himself?

A Whole New World by Liz Braswell

Welcome to a new YA series that re-imagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. Each book asks the question: What if one key moment from a familiar Disney film was changed? This dark and daring version of Aladdin twists the original story with the question: What if Jafar was the first one to summon the Genie. When Jafar steals the Genie's lamp, he uses his first two wishes to become sultan and the most powerful sorcerer in the word. Agrabah lives in fear, waiting for his third and final wish. To stop the power-mad ruler, Aladdin and the deposed Princess Jasmine must unite the people of Agrabah in rebellion. But soon their fight for freedom threatens to tear the kingdom apart in a costly civil war. What happens next? A Street Rat becomes a leader. A Princess becomes a revolutionary. And readers will never look at the story of Aladdin the same way again.
Re-imaginings of classic Disney stories - YOU NEED SAY NO MORE!!!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price - and no one knows that better than the criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull it off alone.
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction - if they don't kill each other first.

What You Left Behind by Jessica Verdi
It's all Ryden's fault. If he hadn't gotten Meg pregnant, she would have never stopped her chemo treatment and she would still be alive. Instead, he's failing fatherhood one dirty diaper at a time. And it's not like he's had time to grieve while struggling to care for their infant daughter, start his senior year, and a earn the soccer scholarship he needs to go to college. The one person who makes Ryden feel like his old self is Joni. She's fun and energetic -  and doesn't know he has a baby. But the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes to keep his two worlds separate. Finding one of Meg's journals only stirs up old emotions, and Ryden's convinced Meg left other notebooks for him to find, some message to help his new life make sense. But how is he going to have a future if he can't let go of the past?
This sounds sad... and I like hurting my feels by reading depressing books. Bring it on!

Seventeen-year-old Arden Huntley is recklessly loyal. Taking care of her loved ones is what gives Arden purpose in her life and makes her feel like she matters. But she's tired of being loyal to people who don't appreciate her - including her needy best friend and her absent mom. Arden finds comfort in a blog she stumbles upon called "Tonight the Streets Are Our", the musing of a young New York City writer named Peter. When Peter is dumped by the girlfriend he blogs about, Arden decides to take a road trip to see him.During one crazy night out in NYC filled with parties, dancing and music - the type of night when anything can happen, and nearly everything does - Arden discovers that Peter is exactly who she thought he was. And maybe she isn't exactly who she thought she was either.
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! GIVE ME!!!!

  2. Sounds like you have some pretty amazing books on your summer TBR this year! I am especially curious about Six of Crows because that is the one I want to try the most of all of those you have mentioned. I am someone who reads all my thick fantasy books in the summer. So I am going to try and read Angellfall but I also want to try Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin.

  7. The Their Fractured Light cover is my NEW FAVOURITE THING OF EVER. *hyperventilates* Her dress, for some weird reason, sort of reminds me of a long flapper dress from the 1940s?! I don't even know what my brain is doing. I JUST LOVE THE COLOURS. :) Ahhh, I'm so excited for QoS. But I agree. CHOOSE CHAOL, WOMAN. STAHP MESSING WITH OUR EMOTIONS.

  10. If I were including books that hadn't been release yet on my list, then nearly all of the ones on your list would have been on mine. DEFINITELY QUEEN OF SHADOWS ANYWAYS. I'm also super scared of what's going to happen. I'm prepared to cry my eyes out for days. This is the first time I've seen the cover for Their Fractured Light and I'M IN LOOOOOVE. It's gorgeous! I neeeeed Six of Crows and The Boy Most Likely To nooooow!
    Happy reading! :D

  11. I keep eyeing my copy of Tonight The Streets Are Ours, even though I know I need to read some eARCs first. But it is killing me, sitting on my shelf in all its purple-pink glory!

  12. I've pre-ordered Queen of Shadows on Amazon and the Book Depository(like you I collect both the UK and US editions) and hopefully one(or both) will ship early. PLEASE!
The Boy Next Door was almost a 5* for me, but for some reason I've yet to read another book of hers. Should definitely remedy that this summer.
So excited for A Whole New World as well. I don't know of any other Aladdin re-tellings. <3
As per usual the autumn is a wondrous time for new releases. Of course November 9 and Six of Crows top my most anticipated.
    Happy reading!

  19. Queen of Shadows! Six of Crows! GIMME GIMME GIMME. The ending to Heir of Fire basically killed me, so I will be reading QoS as soon as humanly possible, thank you very much. Also, I'm intrigued by A Whole New World (and I like that cover a lot more than the genie lamp cover that I've seen around) but I'm not sold on it yet. The summary of the book makes it feel really generic. I'll be curious to read your review. If I read enough positive reviews, maybe I'll give it a shot.

  22. What now? No ARCS = death?!?! I was hoping it meant it's become so popular the publishers don't need to spend the money on ARCs because it'll do well anyway. That's what it means, right? Right?! R x
