I Finally Come Back, Do A Disney Book Tag, Hold A Giveaway... YAY!

I feel like today is a great day for many reasons. The first is the fact that I am finally BACK after taking a rather long break from blogging. I did not do any of what I had hoped to do during that time, but the break was well needed and for the best. I didn't schedule any posts though, I literally didn't go near my blog or any others for almost a whole month. But I am back and am going to try my hardest to get back into the swing of things. I'm not in a full time job as a manager, so I have a lot less time on my hands. But I'm going to try and post consistently, even if I am posting less.

The second reason that today is a great day is the fact that this post manages to combine two of my all time favourite things - Disney and books. If you didn't know already, and you really should, Disney plus books is one winning combination. If you feel like adding some Disney joy to your own day then feel free to consider yourself tagged for this!

The final reasons are the fact that I will be announcing a giveaway at the end of this blog post, and who doesn't love a good giveaway. And I also managed to make my post title rhyme and that is something that should be celebrated. Woop, woop!

Disney Princess Tag

This tag originated over on YouTube and was created by TurtleSympathy

Anna and Elsa
A book involving siblings.

What's hard about this tag is the fact that there are so many different books I could use for each question, so narrowing it down to one is going to be hard. For the siblings tag I am going to go with Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, which has a rather unique sibling relationship in it... to put it mildly. But I'm also picking Half Bad/Wild by Sally Green because it has some complex, beautiful sibling relationships in it. And I'm obsessed with the series.
Rapunzel
A book that made you emotional.

I am going to pick The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brockenbrough, which is a book I will be reviewing and gushing about on the blog very soon. It was AMAZING! It was beautiful, hopeful, emotional and everything I was looking for. A book that has both Love and Death in it as characters, what more could I want. Oh wait, maybe a wonderful love story, spectacular writing as well as a ton of diversity packed into one little book. Read it, you won't be disappointed.

Merida
A book featuring a female warrior.

I am going to have to pick the A Song of Ice and Fire series for this question. That book contains so many female characters that I consider warriors. It has so many strong female characters and even though some might not seem like your typical warrior, they're definitely all warriors to me. You'd have to be to survive in that world.
Tiana
A book that features realistic struggles.

For this one I feel compelled to choose All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. And I promise I am not just picking it because I want any excuse to feature that beautiful book in a blog post. I am picking it because it honestly does deal with some of the very realistic struggles. This deals with people trying to cope with loss, grief and mental illness. The struggles are real and ones that many people, myself included, will have to face at some point or another.
Belle
A literary book or classic.

I always use HP... SO WHAT!
This is where I openly confess to not having read many books that find themselves put in the classic section. But then who got to decide they were classics anyway. For this I am picking Harry Potter, and that might be totally because I never seem to do a tag without finding some way to reference good ole HP somewhere in there. But, seriously, that book and series will always be considered a classic to me.
Pocahontas
A nature-themed book or book by a naturalist.

Yay! I am so happy that I get to mention The Sight and Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies right now. Those two books are ones that I have loved since I was a child and they deserve to get so much more love, praise and to be read forever. The Sight is set in Transylvania and follows a family of wolves and there's magic and powers and prophecies. Then we have Fire Bringer, which is set in ancient Scotland and is told from the perspective of dear. I really don't have enough words to describe how amazing those books are, but I will be recommending them forever.
Jasmine
A book about the desire to be free.

I have to pick Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas! I absolutely adore that series and Celaena is one of my all time favourite female characters. Actually she's just one of my all time favourite characters period. That girl is willing to fight harder than anyone to gain her freedom and I love her for that.
Mulan
A book featuring war or battles.
film animated GIF This has me sitting here singing I'll make a man out of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as loud as I can, it has to be done. There are just far too many books that I want to pick for this one, it isn't fair. I am going to be good and limit myself to two, which are in a series and so I feel should class as one - Red Rising and Golden Son by Pierce Brown. Those two contain some beyond incredible battles that make the books impossible for me to put down until I find out how it all ends. I need the final book!
Ariel
A book featuring curiosity or learning.

I feel like this pretty much describes every book in the history of ever. Something is making me want to choose Far From You by Tess Sharpe. When I started this book I thought it was going to be a really predictable read, where a girl goes on a journey to find out the truth behind her best friends murder. But it wasn't what I was expecting at all, it was so much more and I loved every minute of it. I've actually been itching to reread this one since I first read it last year and I think I might end up caving soon.
Cinderella
A book featuring manual labour.

Not a Drop to Drink and it's companion novel In a Handful of Dust by Mindy McGinnis are a great choice and two exquisitely written book, no word is wasted in those. It's set in our own world but in a future where water is now so scarce that people will kill to protect it. Lynn spends a lot of this book surviving by herself and having to do everything on her own.
Sleeping Beauty
A book featuring sleep.

This is where I finally realise that I have yet to write a review for The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman. It's something that I really need to do because I want to explain in full why I adore that story so much. It's a fairytale that merges Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, whilst bringing a whole new and very cool spin on it. It's very short but it's truly something special and the illustrations are stunning.
Snow White
A book featuring one of the seven deadly sins.

It's ridiculous that I am drawing a blank on this one. I could probably point to any book on my shelf and find something that links to a deadly sin. But I am feeling really lazy right now. I don't have the brain power, energy or time to think too hard about this one.
Megara
A book featuring Greek mythology.
My first instinct for this is to go and pick something by Rick Riordan... but I am not going to. Hooray for me! Instead I am going to go for the Starcrossed series by Josephine Angelini. That takes a lot of inspiration from Greek mythology and it's a book I really enjoyed, although I still have yet to read the final book.
Alice
A book featuring nonsense or a book featuring an unusual other world.

I feel like the only appropriate choice right now is Splintered by A.G. Howard, I mean it is a modern retelling of Alice in Wonderland. That book is well written and loved by many, but it was just far too weird for me.
Maid Marian
A book with a canine.
Part of me wants to pick Harry Potter for Fang. Another wants Throne of Glass for Fleetfoot. Then another wants to pick Northern Lights for Pantalaimon and his ability to be any animal. And then there's the other part that wants to pick The Sight again for all the wolves.
Nala
A book with a feline.

Again I'm just torn between Harry Potter for Crookshanks and Northern Lights again.

  1. AHHH YAY YOU ARE BACK!! *flails wildly* Although, seriously, I hope you don't feel astronomically pressured or anything okay?! Blogging should be fun. ^_^ I'm just glad you're back and well and alive and YAY. Ahem. Also: thaaaank you for this tag. Omg. I'm excited! Although, I was confused why Rapunzel's is "emotional read". XD Hehe. I was expecting it to be a "a book about a girl with a lot of hair".

OKAY YES JUST IGNORE ME. Zomg, what even is wrong with my brain. XD

Also I'm finally reading a Game of Thrones and LOVING it. I'm on the last 100-pages now and pretty nervous for the finale, buuuut excited. The girls are the BEST in that book.

  6. Yay! Welcome back! I was just thinking about your blog the other day and wondering when you might return to us. I hope you do like it back here, and I hope your job is going well :)

Thanks for the giveaway as well ;)

Also, all the books you mentioned I either have read or really want to read (mostly the latter, I'll admit). The one you mentioned that I am dying to read has to be Forbidden! I have read an excerpt and I am so curious to know how things are going to play out with the problem the siblings share there.

  8. Thanks for tagging me! My post will go up this week.
I kind of wanted to choose HP for every question too. But you know, better spread the love. :)
Forbidden is a great answer. That's a very unusual sibling relationship going on there. But none the less, they're close.
I cannot wait to get my hands on The Game of Love and Death. It sounds so unique and intriguing.
    Happy reading!
