Non-Book Romances That Need A Book Adaptation

It's time for Top Ten Tuesday and this week is FREEBIE week, which means you can choose to talk about whatever you want. I really want to discuss the non-book romances I love, the ones I really wish I could read about in book form. I couldn't come up with ten, so I have stuck to five.

Jim & Pam: The Office

These two are quite honestly my ultimate OTP, other than Hermione and Ron. Plus they are real life relationship goals. Their romance on The Office was my favourite thing about the show, they were just too fucking adorable. I'd want their story right from the very beginning, the first time that they meet and all the way up to marriage and babies! We could have the dual POV, see them fall slowly in love with each other. Then we have Pam dealing with her feelings for Jim, whilst being engaged to Roy. Not to mention that Casino Night kiss. And then we would have all the absolutely hilarious characters in The Office. I mean, come on, Dwight in book form! I NEED THIS!

John Krasinski & Emily Blunt

Yup, I would love this real life couple to have a romance novel wrote about them. It would be bloody adorable as hell, those two are too cute together! And, okay, I will admit that my urge for this book to exist might be based off the fact that I am in love with John Krasinski. Sorry, not sorry. I can't help it, the guy plays my dream TV husband and is also a total sweetheart in real life. Plus these two are so sweet together, you could totally write a cutesy romance based around them. You've got the super cute meeting, where he feels like he has no chance in hell and is super nervous. Then a hilarious first date at a shooting range. I want this book, it would be cute as hell.

Satine & Christian: Moulin Rouge

You guys probably don't know this about me, although I have mentioned it a few times, but I am a huge Baz Luhrman fan. I love his films, especially Moulin Rouge and Romeo + Juliet, they are especially visually stunning. Moulin Rouge felt so unique the first time I watched it, it offered something really special. I would love to have a book version of this, although it would lose some great aspects of the film like the musical numbers. I just would love to see that story play out in a book. The penniless writer who ends up falling in love with a prostitute, when he is mistaken for the rich and powerful Duke, who could decide her whole future. They then get to have a forbidden, secret romance.... SUCH POTENTIAL! Now if only they could change that ending.

Aragorn & Arwen: LotR

I know this is kind of cheating as they are a couple from the book, but we really only got the little story about them in the appendix of Lord of the Rings. I am talking about a full length novel that just focuses on these two and their romance. I LOVE THEM!!! The immortal elf who falls in love with the human... I want. I want. I WANT!

Anastasia & Dimitri

Anastasia is one of my all time favourite animated movies, and just a favourite movie of mine in general. I loved this film and I loved these two. And I was all for the story of Anastasia, the Grand Duchess, living because that is just so much nicer and happier than the truth. These characters would be fantastic and hilarious in book form. They have back and forth barbs that are just perfection and would have me in stitches whilst reading. Plus they go from hating each other to falling in love with each other. Then we get the beautiful setting of Russia, with the snow and the beautiful building, stunning clothes and adorable dog sidekick, Pooka. I would just love for this to be a book!

Can you think of any non-book romances that you would love to be able to read as a book?

  1. I'd love to see a romance like Connor + Oliver from How To Get Away With Murder... Or, the couple from 'Lilting', it's such a sad and lovely film. And I have to say the romance in 'Two Weeks Notice' - it's my absolute favourite film! I absolutely adore Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant.

  2. Great idea for this week's TTT freebie post. I have to agree with you on the Anastasia and Dmitri. I would love for any of the Teen Wolf (TV show) romances to be written about.

  3. Such a cool freebie! I would love to see Jim/Pam in a novel! I will have to think about this one because I know there are some I would love to see in book form. I already got my top pick with Veronica Mars and Logan Echolls! ♥

  7. Hi, this is a great idea for a list! I love romances, both book and non-book ones. The first one that come to mind is Luke and Lorelai from Gilmore Girls. A little older, but I would love to read their romance in book format.

  8. I love Pam and Jim so much. Usually I'm not a huge fan of cutesy romances and they're so freaking cute all the time I should hate them but there's just something about them that I love and can't resist.

  9. I have always had such a crush on Dmitri! Now I want to go watch the movie again.

  10. This is so creative!!! I absolutely love this list! Jim and Pam are an obvious favorite, I still get all squealy when I think about them. Also, I love Anastasia and Dmitri... wow that would be a fun book! Personally, I think one of the romances from New Girl (if you've ever watched it) would be well suited to a novel! again, *love* this topic!

  12. Ahhh, I love Jim and Pam! They are so adorable.

I'm trying to think of one that I'd like to read, and the only one that comes to mind is Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano from My So-Called Life, which was my favourite TV show way back when.

  13. I really can't think of any since most movies seem to begin with books. Nice post.

  16. Omg Anastasia & Dimitri ARE BASICALLY EVERYTHING. The sass! The sparks! The adorableness. XD Especially that line of "Do you really think I'm royalty?" "You know I do." "THEN STOP BOSSING ME AROUND."
    *boards this ship*
    *sails forever*
Also Arwen and Aragon are too beautiful for words. I mean, ugh, why are they both so DARN BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. XD

  17. I really wanted to know more about Aragorn & Arwen. I think a novel like that would sell very well. Hmmm?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Since Arwen only gets mentioned like twice in the appendices (slight exaggeration, but I get dramatic and frustrated whenever I think about how few female characters there are in Tolkien's work) so you're probably safe counting them. (Their story is a little different in the movies, too, I think, so there's that.)

Also if you want something kind of like them you can check out the Of Beren and Luthien chapter in The Silmarillion. Arwen and Aragorn are kind of a riff on Beren and Luthien. Except Beren and Luthien's story has 200% more werewolves. (No I'm not kidding.)

  19. I love this idea! I've often thought when watching a tv show/movie that I wished it were a book- mostly because I want to spend several hundred pages with my favourite characters!

  20. Jim and Pam speak to me on so many levels. Their the dream. I also many have a huge crush on John Krasinski and I spent like a half hour just looking at pictures of him and Emily today. She's pregnant with their second kid according to the internet!

  21. ANASTASIA AND DIMITRIII aghhh!! SOOO ADORABLE. I love the topic you chose for this week. All the fangirling hahaha

    Here are my Top Ten!

  23. Oh, Jim and Pam! They may have been my first OTP on television. I loved them so much. Gosh, I miss that show. Great topic for this week!

    ReplyDelete
  24. YES ARAGORN AND ARWEN. XD What a fun list!

By the way, your blog design is absolutely gorgeous. :)

  25. This is such a clever post idea! I couldn't agree more about Arwen and Aragorn. Their romance was my favorite part of the LOTR series, but there wasn't nearly enough backstory for my taste. The books and movies are absurdly long - you can't tell me they couldn't have made them a teensy bit longer in order to include more Arwen/Aragorn love.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!

  26. Yes to all of these, especially Jim and Pam. :)

I want one for Zoe and Wade from Hart of Dixie. Actually, I want one for all the characters from that show.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  27. Emily Blunt <3 I also love the romance in Moulin Rouge. I watched that movie with my sisters and it will forever go down a classic! I really ship the romance in Dirty Dancing as well. It was done so well that I couldn't believe it when I heard that the actor and actress disliked each other a lot all the way through filming. I wouldn't have ever been able to guess such a thing.

  28. Such a unique topic!
I would love to read Anastasia and Dimitri's romance in book form too - it would just be so adorable!
I think a book about Amanda and Jack's romance in the tv show Revenge (or just a book of the show to be honest) would be amazing :)

  29. I really like your topic !! I saw some people who had it the other way around, very awesome of you to have it this way !!!

  32. Yes to all of your choices...though, sorry, I've never watched The Office. But I've heard enough about Jim and Pam to know I'd love them. :-D I would do a lot for a book about Arwen and Aragorn. I always loved that there was more of them in the movies! One of my fave TV couples is Jim and Melinda from The Ghost Whisperer and I'd love to read a book about them meeting and falling in love. :-) Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog!

  33. Very creative idea for your post this week! I have never seen The Office sadly but as popular as it is I bet novelizations would be popular too.

I am kind of surprised that J.R.R. Tolkien never wrote a little novella about Aragorn and Arwen or at least Beren and Luthien, their ancestors who also fell in love (Tolkien considered himself to be Beren and his wife Luthien and had the names engraved on their tombstones). Maybe one of his descendants will write it since they own the rights to his work. For now we'll have to content ourselves with watching the movies or reading the book (I'm rereading it now and am at the part where Arwen is introduced)

  36. Love you TTT graphic, but I LOVE the topic you choose too- and yes, to your list of couples I'd like to read about in book form. Tolkien totally ripped us off in the romance department!

I just love your list- I would kill for a Moulin Rouge book, even though it would break my heart a million times more than it already did.

    ReplyDelete
  37. OMG I love your list! I'm obsessed with John Krasinski so yes, yes, YES to books about him or Jim and Pam. I also loved you picked Anastasia. One of my favorite movies.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!

  38. This is a great topic! I'd love to see movies for all of these, especially Anastasia and The Lord of the Rings. It needs to happen RIGHT NOW!

  39. Oh, interesting list. And I would definitely love a book about Arwen & Aragorn. Great list. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my TTT earlier. :)

  40. I would love to read about Anastasia & Dimitri!!!

  41. Is 50 First Dates based upon a book? I would love to read that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Jim and Pam were great! I honestly didn't know about John Krasinski and Emily Blunt until about a week ago....

I'm so glad to see Arwen and Aragorn made your list. :)

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'd definitely love it if someone writes about Teen Wolf romances!
Nice topic of choice tho! :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. YES to Anastasia and Dmitri! Oh man, they are just the most adorable.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This is a great topic! Also, I love Jim and Pam! I was shipping them so hard from the very first episode of The Office. The frustrating thing was that I KNEW that they would eventually get together (I have a fifth sense like that), but I had to wait many seasons for them to actually get anywhere. If I could tell that they were meant to be together from the first episode, I think they could have figured it out sooner.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh gosh, ALL OF THESE? Can we get ALL OF THESE, RIGHT NOW? I mean, I haven't seen The Office, but my best friend is OBSESSED and IN LOVE with Jim, so - ALL OF THESE need to happen. Anastasia and Dimitri - HOW DO THEY NOT HAVE A BOOK YET, HONESTLY?! And the Arwen/Aragorn thing was soooooo understated in LoTR and there's sooooooo much potential there that it honestly just needs to be its own book. Somehow. <3

  47. Would so read a Satine/Christian book! Moulin Rouge is my absolute favourite movie ever!

  48. Oh Jim and Pam, my favorite TV romance EVER!! I just got done watching the Office from beginning to end on Netflix. I had almost forgotten how much I loved them or how much I missed that show. Great list!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Aw :3 I must admit, I sip some of those

  50. You know, I've really never gotten into The Office. I think I've seen quite a few episodes here and there. But never thoroughly followed the story line. I keep thinking I should do a Netflix binge. So maybe I will.
Oh Aragorn and Arwen.... It's really funny, because as obsessed as I am over LoTR(both book and film) I just could never ship them. Even more so throughout the movies.
