Friday Finds is something that was started over on ShouldBeReading and Stacking the Shelves over at TyngaReviews, I am in love with all of these as I love finding other blogs to follow and books to read through these! So check them all out and see what you find, Stacking the Shelves has a lot of participants as well which is great. This is basically a way for me to show what books I have received, borrowed or bought each week. All book covers and their summary come from back of book or Goodreads.
This week has just been the worst. It's been so bad that I don't even have the energy to explain why it was so bad. The only thing that was good about this week was all the pretty books I got. Mainly, the new Bloomsbury editions of Harry Potter, which are beyond gorgeous. Oh, and not forgetting the adorable Lilo, who likes to keep me company as I blog.

The Harry Potter Series
YAY! So excited to get these. They were going to be gifts from James for Christmas, I just couldn't wait that long. They are just absolutely gorgeous I think they're my favourite covers ever. The original Bloomsbury's have always been Harry Potter to me, but these are stunning and I love them. They're beautiful colours, have brilliant back covers, have a map of Hogwarts in each and so much else. I LOVE THEM!
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Meet Celaena Sardothien.
Beautiful. Deadly. Destined for greatness.
In the dark, filthy salt mines of Endovier, an eighteen-year-old girl is serving a life sentence. She is a trained assassin, the best of her kind, but she made a fatal mistake: she got caught.
Young Captain Westfall offers her a deal: her freedom in return for one huge sacrifice. Celaena must represent the prince in a to-the-death tournament—fighting the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land. Live or die, Celaena will be free. Win or lose, she is about to discover her true destiny. But will her assassin’s heart be melted?

Have already read this, but I needed to own the whole series myself. It's my new favourite. Earns a place of the favourites shelf.
I won Amanda's Summer Surge Read-a-thon giveaway over on Book Badger. I picked these two because I want to own the whole Throne of Glass series.
Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas
It all comes down to this. Oliver, Ethan, and I. Three teens venture into an abandoned lake house one night. Hours later, only two emerge from the burning wreckage. Chloe drags one Reznick brother to safety, unconscious and bleeding. The other is left to burn, dead in the fire. But which brother survives? And is his death a tragic accident? Desperate self-defense? Or murder ...? Chloe is the only one with the answers. As the fire rages, and police and parents demand the truth, she struggles to piece the story together - a story of jealousy, twisted passion and the darkness that lurks behind even the most beautiful faces...
I have read this and reviewed it already. But I was lucky enough to win a finished copy from Jess at Jess Hearts Books.
Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers
Young, beautiful and deadly. Trained as an assassin by the god of Death, Ismae is sent to the court of Brittany, where she finds herself under prepared - not only for the games of intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her will, has stolen her heart?
The Killables, The Disappearances and The System by Gemma Malley
Everyone accepted that people were different physically. But inside? Inside, they were different too. You just had to know how to tell, what to look for. Evil has been eradicated. The City has been established. And citizens may only enter after having the 'evil' part of their brain removed. They are labelled on the System according to how 'good' they are. If they show signs of the evil emerging, they are labelled a K... But no one knows quite what that means. Only that they disappear, never to be seen again...
I remember reading and really enjoying the authors first dystopian series, so I can't wait to try her new one.
Erased by Jennifer Rush
I've owned the first book since Christmas, so when I saw the sequel at work I had to grab it. Hoping it will give me the push I need to finally start this series.
Suspicion by Alexandra Monir
Mysterious. Magnificent. Creepy. Welcome to Rockford Manor.
"There's something hidden in the Maze." Seventeen-year-old Imogen has never forgotten the last words her father said to her seven years ago, before the blazing fire that consumed him, her mother, and the gardens of her family's English country manor.
Haunted by her parents' deaths, Imogen moves to New York City with her new guardians. But when a letter arrives with the news of her cousin's untimely death, revealing that Imogen is now the only heir left to run the estate, she returns to England and warily accepts her role as duchess.
All is not as it seems at Rockford, and Imogen quickly learns that dark secrets lurk behind the mansion's aristocratic exterior, hinting that the spate of deaths in her family were no accident. And at the center of the mystery is Imogen herself--and Sebastian, the childhood friend she has secretly loved for years. Just what has Imogen walked into?

ReplyDeletehere's my sts Home of a Book Lover
Thanks! :)
DeleteGreat haul! I like the covers of Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you had a bad week. Hopefully things will pick up for you over the weekend.
My STS @ Marilyn's Mystery Blog
Hopefully, thanks! :)
DeleteWhat a haul! Harry Potter to me was definitely the original Bloomsbury covers--they'll always have a place in my heart!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, you've reminded me that I've got to get my hands on Dangerous Boys! I can't wait to see how that lives up to Dangerous Girls.
Hope you have a better week upcoming!
Jess @ MyReadingDress
Mine too! I just fell in love with the new ones and HAD to have them :) Dangerous Boys is really great, I preferred Girls but it's still a brilliant book.
DeleteI'm sorry to hear you had such a horrible week. I hope it gets better soon! Throne of glass series <3 I love those books and those HP editions are so pretty. GRAVE MERCY and DARK TRIUMPH, two of my favorite books!! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteYAY! I am getting pretty excited for that series now, people keep telling me such amazing things.
DeleteThe books really do look gorgeous don't they! Oh, and I should have thought you'd get the new HP editions, I admit, they do look beautiful, I saw them the other week and considered what it'd be like owning them, but they're not original and it feels wrong to replace books that's are fine.. anyhow, you've got some pretty fantastic books here, now all you need to do is read them! ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha... I know! I couldn't stop myself. I still have and will keep my other editions, I just really wanted these ones too. I know. I need a massive binge read of all my books, but I never find the time.
DeleteSorry for the rubbish week, but that is a fab haul. The Gemma Malley series looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy StS
Kate @ If These Books Could Talk
I'm excited for it :)
DeleteOoh those Harry Potter books looks GORGEOUS! I seriously must have them right now! Sorry to hear that you've had such a crap week and I hope that things can get better for you soon. Sending a virtual hug...Enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteMe too, here's hoping!!! I love the HP books... I can't stop staring at them. Now I'm wishing I'd got hardbacks though. It would be totally wrong to buy both... right?
DeleteI've got the children's UK paperback series, the audio books with Stephen Fry, half the adult UK series in hardback and half of the US paperback series. Now I've ordered this new set in paperback. So I don't think you can ever have too much Harry!
DeleteThose Harry Potter books are so beautiful! I can understand that you couldn't wait until Christmas to get them!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll enjoy all your new books, and that next week will be fabulous.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Once I saw them out in the bookshop... I HAD TO HAVE THEM!!!
DeleteAwww...sucks that this week was awful. I THINK CAKE IS IN ORDER. *offers delicious floury goodness* At least your set of ToG books looks awesome and OH those Harry Potter covers are definitely my favourites too!! I will be hinting broadly to my sisters for christmas. (Except my entire family conspires AGAINST ME at christmas because they think I have too many books and don't need more. Gee. That's ludicrous. There is no such thing as "too many books". There IS such a thing as "not enough shelf space".) I hope next week is better!!!
ReplyDeleteYAY! *eats the cake!*
DeleteI feel bad for you, my family totally enable my horrible book hoarding habit. Mainly because they no longer live with me and don't have to deal with all the books that are piling up at my flat.
Oh wow! Great haul!! Love those HP covers!! Congrats on the wins too! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Yes, Throne of Glass is an awesome YA fantasy series. I don't blame you for wanting to own the whole series. Yay for Suspicion, I got that one as well. Great stack.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
I hope we both love Suspicion! :)
DeleteSorry you had a bad week, but yay books! So many great ones. I hope you like Grave Mercy and Dark Triumph, can't wait to read your reviews. I got Suspicion too, I hope it's good. Have a great week and hopefully it will be better! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteI am real excited for Grave Mercy now, everyone seems to love it!
DeleteSo many goodies!!! I too want to own Throne of Glass, I own them all on e-book after I got the first one from the library. I plan to purchase them all in a nice set when the last one comes out.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you had such a bad week. I hope this upcoming week is a lot better for you.
Thank you, me too! I really hope it picks up :)
DeleteSo sorry you have had such a terrible week, it looks like you have an adorable kitty (so cute she crosses her legs while sleeping, so modest!) and some wonderful books to help make it a little brighter. Congrats on all the weeks and here is to hoping next week will be ten times better!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know, I have never seen a cat do that before and it made me smile.
DeleteErased and Dangerous Boys are high on my need list! Great haul! Hope the weeks coming get better! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, me too!
DeleteI love the His Fair Assassins books! I can't wait for the last one. Nice haul.

That's good to hear. I'm pretty excited to start this series myself.
DeleteI know, I couldn't say no. So they shall sit side by side with my old ones and I shall stare lovingly at them.
ReplyDeleteSo many pretty books!! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteOoh, such a good haul! I'm finally at a place where I might read Harry Potter again, after studying the first one in my A Level and my degree. Only problem is, I'm contrary. Whenever someone tells me I ~have~ to finally finish the series, I have a sulk and put it off. Whoops. I'll have to see what my ex-housemate thinks about the new covers: she practically had her Bloomsbury editions enshrined, heh.
ReplyDeleteI love the new covers, which is surprising because I have never loved any of the other covers. I hope you do get around to them sometime soon, it's a brilliant series to fall in love with.
DeleteHot diggity! I loved Altered and Erased by Jennifer Rush! And the His Fair Assassins series is one of my favorite series ever :D I hope you enjoy all of your new books!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous weekend :)
Check out my STS post!
I am excited to start that series myself, I hope I end up loving it myself.
DeleteAw sorry to hear you had a sucky week! Hopefully everything will decide to fall in line and leave you be this coming one.
ReplyDeleteOn the books. Grave Mercy is one on my one day list :) Hope it turns out good! And awes to the kitteh and the crossed bits. Too cute!
I really hope so!!!! :)
DeleteI'm sorry to hear your week wasn't the best, Charnell! I hope next week is much better for you. <3
ReplyDeleteOn the plus side though, LOOK AT THAT BEAUTIFUL SET OF HP BOOKS. OH MY GOOD LORD. They are just...breathtaking. After already owning 2.5 sets, I decided that I didn't need the new Bloomsbury editions, but after seeing several people hauling them, I think it's necessary that I slowly begin to collect them. They're just that beautiful.
Thank you! Me too :)
DeleteI LOVE THEM!!! I have just seen the hardback versions and am now really regretting getting the paperbacks. I think I might be excessive and get the hardbacks, but I will buy them one at a time, over the space of months. Not all at once.
Hope you enjoy Dangerous Boys! I liked Altered but I liked Erased even more :) Hope you like those too! Great haul
ReplyDeleteTori @ Bookish Affairs
I've already read Dangerous Boys and I loved it :)
DeleteSo sorry that you had a bad week :-( I hope this week is much better for you. On the plus side, you have got some gorgeous books to get stuck into.
ReplyDeleteI really do, I hope I end up loving them :)
Deleteyay for getting the harry potter series. the books ruled my life from high school all the way to my junior year of college. i hope you'll love reading them as much as i did. happy reading :)
ReplyDeletehope you can stop by my StS Post.
-michelle @ Michelle & Leslie's Book Picks
Haha, I have been reading HP for years. I just needed those new covers, they're amazing!
DeleteThat is a seriously awesome haul!! Definitely some favorites there. I hope we both love Suspicion. Thanks for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteTressa @ Wishful Endings
Me too, I am really excited to start it.
DeleteYes! I will be getting myself the new HP editions too. I know I bought last years US box set but you can never have too many HP books. They are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteGrave Mercy is fantastic. I don't know why I haven't read Dark Triumph yet, but I will before November.
I enjoyed Altered. Except that I listened to it on audio and the narrator was terrible. So I think that hurt my opinion of the book. But I did enjoy Erased more. Gave it a 4*. Pretty action packed series. And short books.
Jealous about Suspicion. Every since the cover was reveal I knew I had to get my hands on it(THAT COVER THOUGH!). Hopefully the story lives up to the cover.
Happy reading!
Brittany @ This is the Story of My(Reading) Life
You really can't. Finally came face to face with the hardback versions and wanted to cry. THEY'RE AMAZING! I think I might need to either sell my paperbacks and get the hardbacks. Or just have both. I NEED THE HARDBACKS!!!
DeleteHow much people complain about narrators really puts me off trying audibooks. I don't think I could continue on if I didn't like the narrator.
I really hope the cover lives up to it, and it's not another The Jewel or Kiss of Deception.
Heyyy, I saw Grace Mercy a long while ago and never got round to reading. Drop me a linky when you review it!
ReplyDeleteWill do! I really hope I end up loving the series, keep hearing such brilliant things.
DeleteHaven't read Dark Triumph yet but Grave Mercy was such a good read, I can't wait to hear what you think of them.
ReplyDeleteHaven't hear of those books by Gemma Malley, but it seems interesting enough so I'll wait to see what you think then I'll get them, maybe haha
Really want to read Suspicion myself so hope it's a good one.
Happy reading Charnell :)
I hope I end up loving Grave Mercy, keep hearing such amazing things about that series.
DeleteI'm sure you will. It's such a unique story that I don't know what's not to love :P
