In My Mailbox & Letterbox Love
IMM is something that was started on TheStorySiren
so click on the link and check out her blog if you want to find out
more about it and how to participate. Letterbox Love was started over at NarrativelySpeaking and is a more UK based version of IMM. This is basically a way for me to
show what books I have received, borrowed or bought each week.
Also check out Friday Finds over on ShouldBeReading and Stacking the Shelves over at TyngaReviews,
I am in love with all of these as I love finding other blogs to follow
and books to read through these! So check them all out and see what you
find, Stacking the Shelves has a lot of participants as well which is
great.
This week I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't go book crazy; well I lied!
This week I bought:
Allegiant (Divergent #3)
by
Veronica Roth
What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation – like a single choice – changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?
The faction-based society that Tris Prior once believed in is shattered – fractured by violence and power struggles and scarred by loss and betrayal. So when offered a chance to explore the world past the limits she's known, Tris is ready. Perhaps beyond the fence, she and Tobias will find a simple new life together, free from complicated lies, tangled loyalties, and painful memories.
But Tris's new reality is even more alarming than the one she left behind. Old discoveries are quickly rendered meaningless. Explosive new truths change the hearts of those she loves. And once again, Tris must battle to comprehend the complexities of human nature – and of herself – while facing impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love.
Got this on my kindle and stayed up till twelve waiting for it to arrive. Have not had it spoiled for me but have seen some less than positive reactions and now I am truly scared!!!
The Immortal Rules (Blood of Eden #1)
by
Julie Kagawa
My vampire creator told me this:
'Sometime in you life, Allison Sekemoto, you will kill a human being. The question is not if it will happen, but when. Do you understand?'
I didn't then, not really. I do now.
In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity. She must decide what - and who - are worth dying for.
I picked this up because of the amazing cover, it looks and feels gorgeous. And the blurb actually sounds really interesting, hoping I can get to this soon.
This week I borrowed:
The Eternity Cure (Blood of Eden #2)
by
Julie Kagawa
Click on the title for a description. I'm not providing one as I haven't read the first book, if I read the blurb I'll spoil it!
Romeo & Juliet &Vampires
by
Claudia Gabel
The Capulets and the Montagues have some deep and essential differences. Blood differences. Of course, the Capulets can escape their vampire fate, and the Montagues can try not to kill their undead enemies, but ultimately their blood feud is unstoppable.
So it's really quite a problem when Juliet, a vampire-to-be, and Romeo, the human who should be hunting her, fall desperately in love. What they don't realise is how deadly their love will turn out to be - or what it will mean for their afterlives...
Well you've got to love Romeo and Juliet. I have been given this by a young girl who comes to the Teenage Reading Group at work, and told I have to read it. I will have to get around to it before the next meeting or I'll feel bad.

This is a love story unlike any you've ever heard...
Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings... until she meets Peter Pan in the forbidding woods of Neverland. Immediately she falls under his spell - holding him like a secret in her heart.
Peter is unlike anyone she's ever known. Reckless and brave, he both scares and enthrals her. She will risk everything - her family, her future - to be with him.
But Tiger Lily soon discovers that the most dangerous enemy can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.
This sounds like a really great read but also like a sad one. I know this book will probably make me love Tiger Lily and then rip my poor heart out by having Wendy come in and ruin everything. Don't make me hate Wendy!

Locked away by his mother's monster of a boyfriend, Edward is seven years old before a neighbour spots his pale face peering through a crack in the boarded-up window. Rescue comes, but lasting damage has been done.
Years on, it's clear to Edward's adoptive family that something in his past haunts him still. Then Edward catches sight of a photograph that shocks him to the core.
Could there be yet another monster in his life who has been waiting to break out all along?
Sounds interesting, but one that will probably make me sad too. Why do I do this to myself? Why?

Tabitha Suzuma
At seventeen, Matheo Walsh is Britain's most promising diving champion. He is wealthy, popular - and there's Lola, the girlfriend of his dreams.
But then there was that weekend. A weekend he cannot bring himself to remember. All he knows is that what happened then has changed him for ever.
Matheo is faced with the most devastating choice of his life. Keep his secret, and put those closest to him in terrible danger. Or confess, and lose Lola completely.
I loved, loved, loved Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, I reviewed on the blog and it is one of my all time favourite reads. So when I saw she had a new book out I had to get it. Excited for this one.
This week I received for review:
The Switch
by
Dawn Pendleton and Andrea Heltsley
Honor and Faith haven’t switched places since they were kids. When Honor begs her twin sister to go on a date with her boyfriend, Cameron, Faith reluctantly agrees. The problem is that she lets things go too far. Now Honor and Cameron have broken up and he won’t stop calling Faith, claiming he felt something more for her. The scary thing is, Faith felt it too. The problem, however, is the one rule that sisters and best friends abide by: don’t date their exes.
Honor has her own problems. Breaking it off with Cameron was the right thing to do, but now his best friend, Parker, won’t leave her alone. The more time they spend together, the more Honor starts to heal. Suddenly, Honor sees Parker as more than just a friend who cares – and she wants more.
Neither sister wants to complicate things further and cross those boundaries, but they can’t stop their emotions for the guys in their lives. Turns out, the switch is the one thing that has changed them forever.
Not sure about this one, but I thought I would give it a try!

I couldn't resist getting the Kindle version of Allegiant either, even though I still need to finish Insurgent. You have a great haul! I really enjoyed Tiger Lily and I don't remember hating Wendy at the end. :)
ReplyDeleteYay, I'm happy to know my love of Wendy will not be ruined. I'm quite looking forward to Tiger Lily. I love that it gets delivered to the kindle dead on midnight, amazing!
DeleteGreat haul! I loved The Immortal Rules (and The Eternity Cure). Read Allegiant on Tuesday (I won't say anything about how I felt about it,don't want to spoil it). Cinder and Scarlet...love this series!! Have fun reading! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm excited for all but very nervous about Allegiant, think it will disappoint and I'll post some horribly ranty review that I'll regret later! But hopefully everyone elses negative comments have made my expectations so low that it can't be as bad as I'm thinking it is. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteThank you for mentioning me :-) I received Allegiant as well which I can't wait to read, although I'm nervous, given all the negative comments. My haul will be up on Saturday morning :-) Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, thanks so much for following! I know, me too. Have just started and so far nothing too bad! Will check out your haul when you post it.
DeleteI also read the spoilers about Allegiant. I'm honestly scared for you. I just hope you are truly ready for what's coming. :-s
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to read Cinder and Scarlet soon! Both are in my favorite reads of the year. Happy reading!
Chel @ The Procrastinator's Corner
In all honesty I expect death, most likely that of at least Tris & Four. And no I am not prepared! I am just scared. There is nothing worse than dedicating time and love to a series to have it end really badly. Dexter the TV show taught me this better than anything.
DeleteEeeek I'm really scared! =( Thanks for stopping by though and not spoiling it either!
Hurt is amazing, very emotional so be prepared.
ReplyDeleteAfter the heart breaker that was the amazing Forbidden, I'm kind of expecting this one to make me sob too! Thanks for stopping by, really glad to hear Hurt is amazing! =D
DeleteWe all go a little crazy from time to time. Its okay. The Julie Kagawa Blood of Eden series is fantastic. Come visit me as well.

I know, when it comes to books I just can't help myself! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGood haul this week. I adored Scarlet, but I wasn't a huge fan of Tiger Lily. I didn't know Romeo and Juliet and Vampires existed until right now, and now it's on my TBR pile haha. Thanks for sharing, and enjoy them! :)
ReplyDeleteMy STS
I hope you enjoy Rome & Juliet & Vampires if you get it! Thanks for stopping by, I've seen a lot of mixed reviews for Tiger Lily so we shall see! Excited to read Cinder & Scarlet.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my STS! I'm holding off on Allegiant until the library has it because of the negative reviews. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGood plan, everyone is angry about the ending I hear. But I'm only 60% in and I'm already angry, it's my most disappointing read of 2013 =( Thanks for checking mine out too.
DeleteThe Immortal Rules is one fabulous book. Julie Kagawa is great at characterizations and solid world building. I haven't read the 2nd book yet because I've heard about a killer cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your fabulous books! :)
Nick - My Haul
Damn, I both love and hate a great cliffhanger in equal measure! Think it's so effective but it really does kill me having to wait! So excited to read them though. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteGreat haul! And how could you not buy Allegiant this week? I'm a new GFC follower.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my STS
And while you're at my blog, be sure to enter my Fierce Reads Giveaway
I know, sadly I'm 60% in and it's been nothing but disappointing so far, I am so upset! Thanks for stopping by, will enter giveaway when I have more time - laptop charger died yesterday so having to do this on my lunch break at work!
DeleteThe Immortal Rules is really good! I've also heard nothing but amazing things about the Lunar Chronicles series. I hope you enjoy all your books :)
ReplyDeleteThanks you, I'm excited to read them all! It's just finding the time. Thanks so much for stopping by.
DeleteAH I love love love Tiger Lily! I read it earlier this year and it's now one of my favorites! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited to read it, just sounds very original and not like anything I've read before! Thanks for checking out my haul =D

ReplyDeleteAmber @ My Bookshelf Is Hungry
You're very welcome, thanks so much for taking the time to check mine out and comment back =D
DeleteGood luck with Allegiant, Eeek. Love The Immortal Rules!
ReplyDeleteEurgh 60% in and not one exciting thing has happened yet, I'm actually excited to see the devastating ending everyone seems to be talking about! At least than something will have happened, think it's best to pretend this book never happened! Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteOoo, Scarlet! And Tiger Lily! Very nice. I love the cover of Tiger Lily! And I hope you enjoy Allegiant! After the explosions of reactions on Tuesday... I'm holding off for a while :\
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Haha I would really recommend never reading it. Divergent was one of my all time favourite books, this was not worth my time or money. If you are a fan I wouldn't recommend to be honest! Thanks for stopping by =D
DeleteOoh, I love that cover for ALLEGIANT! Is that the UK one? Usually the foreign covers are slightly similar to the US one but this is a completely different route the designers took. I would've at least expected it to be orange! I mentioned this on the comment you left on my post but I'm so eager to see your review of this book if you end up posting it. A lot of people aren't writing one but after what you mentioned, I need to know what you thought of the ending! :)
ReplyDeleteI've heard wonderful things about TIGER LILY. I haven't read it myself but supposedly it's quite good. Hope you enjoy it and all the other books you got this week!
Christine @ The Bookish Daydreamer
I have posted two, for the first time ever I felt the need to do one that is spoiler free, as mine always are and one that isn't. You can see both on the blog. Long story short, I completely hated it!
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by.
These all look great! I've checked out Scarlet from my library recently, but still haven't read Cinder either! It's always out on loan :( Happy reading all those wonderful books! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate when you can't get hold of the first book in a series! Well hopefully we both end up loving it as much as everyone else seemed to =D
DeleteAwesome haul!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! =D
DeleteOHHH GREAT HAUL! I hope you like the ending of Allegiant. Oh, and and and Tiger Lily--I hear it's good. Plus, who can argue with the talent that is Julie Kagawa. I hope you enjoy all of your new pretties and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteSiiri @ Little Pieces of Imagination
I hope I love them all too - except Allegiant, I finished it and was so bored by the end I didn't even care what happened lol =D
DeleteHopefully the others won't be as bad, thanks for stopping by.
I picked up Allegiant this week too! I haven't started it yet, but I'm hoping to avoid spoilers till I do.
ReplyDeleteWell I will give nothing away, I hated it but let's hope you love it! =D
DeleteGreat haul! I tell myself I'm not going to go book crazy, too. Usually it doesn't end well haha. I loved Cinder, I loved Scarlet, and I absolutely cannot wait for Cress. Happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteMy StS
I'm hoping I love them as well, everyone has such amazing things to say about all of them! =D
DeleteCool haul. Happy reading :)
