My Christmas Book Haul: Part 2

This week is a weird one, it feels like nothing and everything has happened at the same time. I don't even know how to explain that, so I won't even try! It's been a week of working, doctors visits, lots of sleeping and barely getting anything done.
I posted a quick Christmas catch up post, where I also explained why I'd been very absent from blogging recently. The response from all you wonderful people was so lovely and I thank you all for that. It made me feel a lot better and a lot less guilty. I'm feeling happier and looking forward to jumping back into blogging.

I'm linking up with Tynga's Stacking the Shelves.

The above photo is almost every single book I received for Christmas, except for two childhood favourites my mum got me. That's 75 books. CRAZY! Clearly they all listened to me when I said all I really wanted for Christmas was books. There were far too many to put into one post, so I decided to split them into two posts.

Horde (Razorland, #3)
Horde by Ann Aguirre

Yes, I continue to do that thing where I buy all the books in a series before I even start book one. It's a problem... but I can't stop myself from doing it.

Unteachable by Leah Raeder, The Distance Between Us by Kasie West, Ignite Me & Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi

Unteachable - This has been on my wishlist for so long! I have seen so many amazing reviews and I am so excited to finally be able to get to it.
The Distance Between Us - I've already read it, but it's a book I know I am going to want to reread.
Ignite Me & Unite Me - Yes, another time where I get the whole series before starting it.

Never Fade by Alexandra Bracken, Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown, Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown and Hate List by Jennifer Brown

Never Fade - You guessed it, another book I am buying in preparation for reading the first book. I hate starting series and not having the sequel ready to read next.
Jennifer Brown - I read and loved Hate List a few years ago and have wanted to own it ever since. I've also wanted to try more Jennifer Brown, so I am really pleased to have two new JB books to get started on.

The Sea of Tranquility - This book has been on my wishlist for so long. I've heard amazing things and I'm probably going to read it and then kick myself for waiting so long to read it.
My Life with the Walter Boys - I've heard next to nothing about this book, but I saw one gushing review that had me adding it to my Christmas wishlist. I'm intrigued.
For Darkness Shows the Stars & Across a Star Swept Sea - Another series I've been meaning to try for so long now, but just never got to. Hopefully 2015 will be the year.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz, The Girl with all the Gifts by M. R. Carey, The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion and Stolen by Lucy Christopher

Aristotle and Dante - This is one of those books where I have heard nothing but amazing things, I really have no excuse for why I haven't got to it sooner. Although, I must admit, I hate the ridiculously long title.
The Girl with all the Gifts - Cait's love of this made me really want to read it.
The Rosie Project - Looks like a fun read and I need more fun reads in my life.
Stolen - It's been on my TBR for far too long.

Don't Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout, Me Before You by Jo Jo Moyes, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler and Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer

Don't Look Back - Amanda has made me really want to read this one!
Me Before You - I've wanted to read this for so long, but I am a little scared because it seems like a book that has the potential to make me cry.
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves - My sister recommended this to me, and also warned me to steer clear of any and all reviews until I have read it.
Belzhar - I'm torn! I've seen mixed reviews, which always makes me nervous about a book.

All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill and Across the Universe by Beth Revis

All Our Yesterdays - This one confuses me because I'm not sure if it will read as a standalone. I know the author had a sequel planned, but then cancelled it because she couldn't write one. Hopefully it has a satisfying ending, or that could be annoying.
Across the Universe - This was a present from Amanda and I am very excited to be able to try this series.

Children's Classics

The following books are all children's classics, ones I have wanted to read for so long now. I have seen movies for most of them and loved them, but never read the books when I was a child. Something I am hoping to change very soon.

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling

Alice's Adventures in Wonerland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum, Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain, The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

  1. Amazing haul! Love so many of these, or have them on my wishlist! I've seen you talk about Unteachable before, and it was actually you who made me interested in reading it, looking forward to getting my hands on it this year, I hope! The Alexandra Bracken series is one I've been thinking about, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of it before I commit. I too LOVE having all of the books in a series out before I start it, which is kind of why I'm gutted I started Throne of Glass when I did. But, there's something kind of magical about the excitement and anticipation waiting on the next installment creates too, and it's a nice feeling. The Sea of Tranquility is one I've been wishing to get for ages, I've heard so many great things and I just feel like it's one I'll love! Such a great haul! :)

Also, really glad you found support in the community, it's one thing I've noticed we're really good at :) Hope you're still on the road to feeling better, and if you ever want a semi-stranger to chat to (I hear that's easier) you know how to find me. R xxx

I am still feeling good and that post and the response made me feel so much better and less guilty about everything. Thank you hun :) That's so lovely of you xxx

  4. Wow! Awesome! You MUST read For Darkness Shows the Stars! I wish more people got books for me :) But, I used my money and gift cards to get a lot of books. I still have $100 I'm saving from Christmas to buy upcoming releases. I'm also waiting for a big Book Outlet order to arrive. I hope you enjoy your new books!

    1. I love Book Outlet because their prices are INCREDIBLE. I hate them because their international shipping costs are too ridiculous so there is no way I can buy from them. I'd move to the US just to be able to shop from there, haha.

  8. Ignite me is a trilogy I really want to start. I think it is one I will either love or hate. That aside The Sea of Tranquility also has some good reviews so I have added it to my TBR. Aristole and Dante as well as The Rosie Project are both books I own but have yet to read... maybe I will try them after I see your reviews? Little Women and The Secret Garden are all books I have read and loved <3 I read Treasure Island but really didn't like it... haven't read a pirate story since >< I hope you enjoy it more than me! I also really want to try the Across the Universe trilogy because I just read her latest book, The Body Electric and enjoyed it quite a bit. Looking forward to the final part of this haul!

    1. Me too. I've heard people say Shatter Me is the worst of the series, so to stick with it even if I hate it. I will definitely try to. We shall see how it goes.

I hope these don't sit on my shelves for too long without being read.

This was the final one. 75 books in two posts. Maybe I should have waited and done 3 posts instead, spread them out a bit more. NEVERMIND! =D

  9. 75 books! Oh my gosh I so wish I was you right now! You must have some awesome family and friends! If you like mystery books you will definitely like Don't Look Back. It was one of my favorite books of 2014. It is a great story and Jennifer L. Armentrout is just an amazing author. Enjoy all of those books!

  11. THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFS THOUGH! *flails forever and always* Seriously....it is the best and the ending is wonderfully awful and and and I just have sooo many feels towards that book. EVEN THE BAD GUYS ARE AWESOME.
I liked Stolen but didn't love it...I didn't think it was the most accurate book about Australia's desert but whatever. hehe.
Ari and Dante is SO BEAUTIFUL but really slow. ACtually the first 50% had me going "what is the point" and the last half had me feeeeeeling all the FEELZ.

  12. WOW. Just wow. I am speechless. Because.. 75 books?!?!? Also, I do the thing where I buy all the books in a series too. It is a bad idea, but I cannot help myself ;) I hope you are able to enjoy all these amazing books! You are one lucky reader :)

    1. It doesn't work well if you hate the first book, but is so convenient if you end up loving book one. I hope I get to enjoy them all as well, finding the time to read them all will be hard, haha.

  13. 75 BOOKS??? THEY REALLY DO LISTEN! My family thought "oh she wants books, let me not get her any" LOL But I'm not complaining because I have other loves (shoeeeesss) and they definitely gave me a lot of love hahaha

Distance Between Us! I hope to get that one read soon, everyone raves on about it! x

  14. WOW, I thought I had got a lot of books Christmas week, I got 13!

I hope you enjoy Belzhar, I read it very late last year and it became my 2nd fave book of the year after We Were Liars. It really divides opinion though.

    1. At least 13 is an easily managed number that you could get through, 75 is rather daunting. Especially considering how many 2015 releases I am desperate to read too.

  15. I really wanna read 'The girl with all the gifts'. My friend says it's really good. (I think I'm just gonna borrow it from her, since we share a flat.)
Other than that, I don't really know the books on here.

  19. I am so very very excited for you to read Unteachable and The Sea of Tranquility. Both are emotional rollar coasters. But so so worth it.
Me Before You will make you cry. I'm kind of still not over it. Its been a few years but it's still one of my favourite books.
Don't Look Back is also one of my fave JLA books. Which is hard to say. I love all her books.
Ignite Me is by far my fave in that trilogy. I actually really really disliked Shatter Me. But for some reason I decided to continue on with the trilogy. And that totally payed off.
Enjoy ALL of your books. :D
    Happy reading!

    1. LOVED Unteachable so much! It was such a wonderful book and not what I was expecting at all but in the best way. Now I am scared to read Me Before You though, I don't want to be ugly crying right now.

  20. I had to reread 75 books a bunch of times to get it in my head it's actually 75 books. I am so jealous, what an amazing haul! If it wasn't for a few friends and a cousin, I'd barely get any books for birthday or Christmas! I do get some bookish paraphernalia which is good as well, but still. It's safe that my mom just doesn't buy first books she sees but gift cards would be great haha :D
Oh what an amazing haul, really, so many awesome titles that are on my TBR! All Our Yesterdays and Across the Universe are amazing, as well as is Ari and Dante, I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!

  21. So many great books, I don't know where to start!!!

As far as All Our Yesterdays, my understanding is that it was meant to be a stand-alone, it was written as one, but then people loved it so much that she tried to write a sequel, but it didn't work. Regardless of whether that's true or not, it completely works as a stand-alone and has a satisfying ending.

Unteachable…really good. Same with Sea of Tranquility.

Never Fade!!!! Love that series. So. Much.

Horde!!! Love this series too and Horde is one of the best series enders I've ever read.

Across the Universe. Love this series too!!

    Have fun reading! ~Pam
