This should be easy, it really should be. But I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, which makes this extremely hard. I felt like I should just pick one from HP and then others from somewhere else. But I couldn't do it. So I decided to do 5 Harry Potter characters. Then I struggled with that. How do you pick 5? I have a list of about 15 that I want to put, and it's way too hard to narrow it down. So I am cheating a little bit.
You can't have one without the other. I love Ron, I really love his character and I have a total crush on him as a character. He might not be the usual book boyfriend but he's definitely one for me. He's hilariously funny and can be completely useless at times, but he is adorable and loveable. Hermione is smart, loves books and she's a large part of the reason Ron and Harry made it through their seven years at Hogwarts.
How can you not love Hagrid? He's a gentle giant, he's funny and he's sweet. He looks out for Ron, Harry and Hermione and cares for them all. He also has an obsession with animals, which I love about him. I loved Hagrid from the moment he appeared in book one.
Come on, you knew they were going to make the list! They had to make the list. These two are just perfect, they are always funny and provide so much comic relief in the book. You never see one without the other and they work off each other so well. You just can't have one without the other... YOU CAN'T!!!
Remus Lupin & Nymphadora Tonks
Do you see how I'm cheating now? Yup, just shoving two characters into one entry because I can! Lupin was a character that I came to love so much as time went on. He knew about Harry's parents and he'd loved them so much. He had great stories about them and he was always looking out for Harry because he knew it was what they would have wanted. Nymphadora was just such a fun character, with her changing hair and brilliant personality.

Dumbledore is such a hard character for me because I love him, but in later books he really starts to wind me up. I don't love him any less, but he does do some things that I can't wrap my head around. The main thing that always confused me was why he always kept so much from Harry. But he was a great character, he looked after Harry and worked with him in order to take down Lord Voldemort. Black is just a character that you can't help but love. The cool godfather who wanted to get Harry away from his awful aunt and uncle.
This physically hurts! I just want to keep going!!! Luna, Dobby, Neville and on and on and on!

I love how you just used Harry Potter characters, there's so many to choose from though, I couldn't have chosen them for that reason, but yes to Sirius for sure, he was one of my favourites definitely!
ReplyDeleteIt was so hard to pick just 5, and even then I totally cheated, but I couldn't get my mind off HP characters as soon as I saw 'secondary characters'. J.K.Rowling just writes the best secondary characters.
DeleteI couldn't agree with you more on ALL of these. I just adore this series and it will forever hold a special place in my heart and on my book shelf.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post!!
Thank you! I love HP and knew I had to share the HP love right now.
DeleteI feel like I miss ALL this stuff about Harry Potter. Why don't I just sit down and finish the series, darnit?? I've got like 3 books to go. THAT'S NOT MANY. (Although, they're kiiiind of huge.) I think I even own the next one. *gently bumps HP up tbr*
ReplyDeleteSIT DOWN AND FINISH THEM CAIT! FINISH THEM!!!! You are missing out ;) They aren't that huge, suck it up and get them done. You can reward yourself with cake after :)
DeleteThis post is just...asdfghjkl, all kinds of AMAZING! I love all of these characters, and reading this post just makes me want to re-read the whole series again for about the bajillionth time.
ReplyDeleteIt made me want to go pick them all up and reread them too! I think I probably will by the end of the year, I need HP back in my life!
DeleteOoh, I just re-read HP books 1 and 2 - and I agree with the secondary characters. I actually like a lot of them better than I like Harry :)
ReplyDeleteAs for the giveaway, I'd love to win My Life Next Door :)
Thanks for hosting!
Oh me too, Harry isn't nowhere near the top of my list for favourite Harry Potter characters. I LOVE My Life Next Door, I hope you love it if and when you read it. :)
DeleteHaha! That is like the hardest, cut throat list any HP fan would have to make! You can't choose. It's literally impossible. Although I'd think we'd share some of the same list.
ReplyDeleteSnape is my absolute favourite HP character. Always was. Than of course there'd have to be my boyfriend, Ron. And I couldn't leave Sirius out. Or Hedwig. Or Luna. Ahhh! *head explodes*
:D
Happy reading!

SEE YOU JUST CAN'T PICK! I like Snape but I hated him for so much of the series, that even with DH, he never became an absolute favourite for me. I love him, but I only felt slightly bad for leaving him off my list. I struggled so much to find these 5, and even then I totally cheated. It's too hard.
DeleteI'd have to pick Sirius and Luna as my favorite HP side characters. :) And definitely Snape, always. :P
ReplyDeleteI do love Snape, but it really took DH for me to really, truly love his character. I still felt bad leaving him off my list though.
DeleteHarry Potter does have some of the best secondary characters…no doubt. ~Pam
ReplyDeleteRowling is a genius when it comes to secondary characters! I love so many of them, it was hard to narrow the list down.
DeleteLOL I love how you cheat. I haven't read any of the Potter books so no real clue on any of them but I did have an adopter name their kittens Ron and Hermione. I thought that was so funny.
ReplyDeleteTHAT IS ADORABLE! I would love to have done that with my cats but we have only ever had girls. I cheat all the time, it's terrible! But, in my defence, 5 is a very small number ;)
DeleteI totally agree! Harry Potter is the best with secondary characters.
ReplyDeleteIt really is, Rowling is a genius! :)
DeleteI love the Harry Potter theme! I've only recently started reading the series for the first time, and finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone a couple of weeks ago. It's awesome I have so much to look forward to in the next six books!
ReplyDeleteYou really do, they just get better and better :)
